Athena at neolithic village

Data:
60x 40 inch. (152x 102 cm.)
From March 1999 to January 2000.
Hours spent working: 306 hrs & 30 mins.

The scene is a Neolithic village in North-Central China at about 7000 years ago. (In Chinese archaeology it is called the Yang-Shao period.) Suddenly Goddess Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom & Compassion, appears before the village chief and shamans to bestow wisdom and intelligence upon them. The birth of a civilization then follows. (Sort of like the opening scene of the movie 2001, when the black thing appears before the hominoid apes.)

The village scene here is a reconstruction of the representative Yang Shao type archaeological site at Chian-Chai (Shensi province).
